Lots of initiatives for the Immaculate Conception weekend at the Capodimonte Museum and Royal Woods

Many initiatives are planned for the Immaculate Conception weekend at the Capodimonte Museum and Real Bosco: performances, insights, workshops and an exhibition.

TheImmaculata Weekend is full of initiatives at the Capodimonte Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte!

On Saturday, December 9, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., art historian Gianluca Puccio will offer an in-depth look at Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s Parable of the Blind, the protagonist of L’opera si racconta, a series of exhibitions on individual masterpieces from the permanent collections. At the same time it will be possible to listen to the story of the painting translated into music by young Neapolitan composer Stefano Gargiulo.

At 12 noon, in the Salone delle Feste, a dance performance will offer the myth of Atalanta. Making the performance is Valeria Apicella.

On Sunday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. a creative Christmas workshop will be offered for children, who will receive a kit containing materials to be able to make their own out-of-doors. Nativity images of masterpieces on display in the museum will also be used. The workshop is aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11.

Also on Monday, Dec. 11, the"Carte Blanche" exhibition will be presented: ten famous personalities in different fields of knowledge, with different culture, nationality and education, have become “curators” of their ideal exhibition in the Capodimonte Museum, selecting ten works of art of their choice from a maximum of 47 thousand preserved. The only obligation: to explain their choice.

The exhibition was conceived by Sylvain Bellenger and Andrea Viliani, and the ten famous personalities are: Laura Bossi Régnier, Giuliana Bruno, Gianfranco D’Amato, Marc Fumaroli, Riccardo Muti, Mariella Pandolfi, Giulio Paolini, Paolo Pejrone, Vittorio Sgarbi, and Francesco Vezzoli.
