Luca Cerizza will be the new curator of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale

Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and Undersecretary Delegate for Art and Contemporary Architecture Vittorio Sgarbi agreed to appoint Luca Cerizza as curator of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, who will work closely with new Director General Angelo Piero Cappello.

The undersecretary evaluated with the minister the hardly understandable proposal for the Italian Pavilion project, which “revolves around the theme of building community through the invitation to listen to the other.” He then intends to get clarification from curator Cerizza; but announced that Commissioner Angelo Piero Cappello will work on a project of the new Directorate General to deepen knowledge of Italian comics and great illustrators, in collaboration with Igort.

“The Ministry,” Sgarbi explains, “intends to enhance the activity of the Pavilion through the variety of artistic genres regardless of the choice of an artist.”
