MiBAC secretary general seeks two experts to enhance ministry headquarters. Free of charge.

A project for the enhancement of the Collegio Romano, the headquarters of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, which will start soon, will end on December 31, and must make use of at least two experts, who have a degree in architecture or art history, qualified experience in the institutional field, excellent knowledge of regulations on protection, enhancement, additional services and organization of the ministry, experience in communication and dissemination of cultural heritage, excellent interpersonal skills and excellent knowledge of English or French. The Secretary General of MiBAC, as stated in the notice for the expression of interest aimed at selecting the two experts mentioned above, intends to carry out a “project for the enhancement of the ministerial headquarters” by promoting “the widest knowledge of the cultural heritage contained therein through the identification of visiting routes open to the public and the elaboration of information material concerning spaces, works and elements of historical, scientific, artistic and architectural interest.”

The problem is that any assignments will be given free of charge and without any form of reimbursement of expenses. Interested parties have until June 10 to apply: there will be a special three-member commission to evaluate professionals willing to work for free. The notice has the unbelievable: yet, if the assignments will actually be given (in this sense MiBAC does not set any constraints), the experts will not receive any compensation for highly qualified work. To read the notice, it is necessary to log on to the ministry’s website. And to think that last week, Minister Alberto Bonisoli had announced a crackdown on the misuse of volunteers. What to say. After all the controversy, the ministry has decided to cut it out by writing that it wants to award two positions for free: if nothing else, now at least it is clear... !
