It had beenannounced afew days ago a large mural dedicated to Gigi Proietti, who passed away on November 2, in the Roman neighborhood Tufello, where the popular actor spent his childhood. D’après Gigi, this is the title of the huge street art work created by Lucamaleonte, was unveiled yesterday on the entire facade of the ATER building at Via Tonale 6, where Proietti lived.

The initiative was desired by the Lazio Region, ATER Roma, AS Roma, Roma Cares and the Pastificio Cerere Foundation, which took the form, as the Foundation wrote, of “a tribute to a great actor who was able to eliminate any distinction between high and low culture, making generations of Italians laugh and be entertained, always reiterating the importance of culture as a fundamental element for social and civil growth.”

The mural was created by Marcello Smarrelli, who said, “The extraordinary result obtained confirms how street art is a powerful tool for the dissemination and promotion of contemporary culture, thanks to its immediate language that manages to communicate in a direct and transversal way, effectively reaching different and heterogeneous audiences.”
