UNESCO ResiliArt is also born in Italy to support culture

UNESCO has founded the global UNESCO ResiliArt movement to support culture and has also been established in Italy.

In the face of the Covid-19 health emergency,UNESCO founded the global UNESCO ResiliArt movement in support of culture to safeguard cultural heritage and give artists, intellectuals and creative people a voice through the resilient role of culture.

UNESCO ResiliArt was therefore also established in Italy, articulated in national and thematic committees, and philosopher Filippo Cannizzo was appointed ambassador and coordinator of UNESCO ResiliArt: Beauty initiatives in Italy.

A philosopher and university researcher, Cannizzo has taught in Bologna, Naples, and Rome and, after collaborating with the Istituto Luigi Sturzo and the Fondazione Ugo Spirito, directed the ICC Castelli. Author of the successful book Crumbs of Beauty. Dialogues of Hope for the Future of the Bel Paese and promoter of the Festival of Philosophy in Ciociaria, he is the winner of the 2018 “For Philosophy” award and the 2019 international “SCRIPTURE” award.

The UNESCO ResiliArt movement aims to highlight, even in this difficult situation, the essential role of culture in society. For UNESCO, art is resilient, which is why it will be able to develop tools to help artists overcome this momentous crisis, showing the world that creativity is unstoppable.

The health emergency has caused a cultural emergency-the cultural sector has been severely affected. Today more than ever there is a need for culture. Starting with a discussion and assessment of the economic and social impact of the current crisis, the UNESCO ResiliArt global movement aims to identify a strategy for intervention, through a global dialogue with leading professionals in the field, capturing ideas, proposals, cultural programs, and voices of resilience from artists, both established and emerging.
