Visitors increase at Florence's Accademia Gallery during evening openings

During its special evening openings, the Accademia Gallery in Florence experienced an increase in visitors in June and July.

Satisfied, Florence Academy Gallery director Cecilie Hollberg: in June and July 2018, the percentage of admissions during evening opening hours, particularly on Thursdays, increased by 56 percent in June and 26 percent in July compared to 2017.

Cecilie Hollberg said, “The success of the evening special openings shows that keeping the museum open until 10 p.m. gives the public the opportunity to choose less crowded times of the day. We are also very pleased with this increase because it has enabled us to achieve our goals, which are to spread the number of visitors over a longer period of time and to facilitate the enjoyment of our cultural heritage to Florentines and those who have difficulty visiting the museum during regular opening hours.”

The special evening openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays will continue in August and September.
