Manovrina, cuts to MiBACT by 12 million

Last April 24, the Decree-Law was officially published and came into effect the same day, providing for a structural correction of the state’s accounts in the amount of 3.4 billion euros: part of the sum will come from cuts on ministries’ spending missions and programs, which total 460 million euros.

Attached to the Decree published in the Official Gazette are the amounts of cuts for each Ministry. Also affected is the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MiBACT), for which a reduction of 12,860,000 euros is planned.

More precisely, 9,579,000 euros will be cut in 2017 under"Protection and Enhancement of Cultural and Landscape Heritage and Activities," including 5,455.000 euros for"Protection of cultural heritage" and 220,000 euros for"Protection of archaeological heritage"; 108,000 euros will be cut from the item"Research, education and training in the field of cultural heritage and activities,""Tourism" will do without 757,000 and, finally, savings of 2,416,000 euros in the item"Institutional and general services of public administrations."

The maneuver was enacted as a function of fixing the state’s accounts to meet the commitments made with the European Union and to avoid triggering the safeguard clauses that could lead to a VAT increase in 2018."
