New Year’s Eve in Bologna is very special because of its custom of burning the vecchione: every year, on the night between December 31 and January 1, a huge wooden puppet, the vecchione in fact, symbolizing the year just gone by, is burned in Piazza Maggiore, in front of Palazzo d’Accursio, the seat of the City Hall. Where, this year, the Dallalto New Year’s Eve will take place: at 10:30 p.m. there will be a DJ set starting with the music of Barry Myers, the DJ who opened all the Clash concerts in the late 1970s, which will be followed by the performance of M+A, an electronic music duo fresh from their experience at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival. The artists will offer their performances, precisely, from the top of the central balcony of Palazzo d’Accursio.

This will be followed by Moni Ovadia ’s Yiddish cabaret that will greet the new year. And on Jan. 1, New Year’s Eve concert at Montagnola Park with the OrchestraSenzaspine, an orchestra composed exclusively of musicians under 30 years of age that will offer a repertoire with pieces by Mozart, Bach, Rossini, Paolo Morra, Nino Rota, and will conclude with the notes of Strauss’s Blue Danube.

We will then take you inside the exhibitions and museums, and in particular visit the exhibition Morandi and the Ancient: Vitale da Bologna, Barocci, Rembrandt and Crespi at the Morandi Museum, housed in the spaces of MAMbo (the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna), and The Journey Beyond Life. The Etruscans and the Afterlife between Masterpieces and Virtual Reality, which takes place instead at Palazzo Pepoli. Finally, we will also offer a visit to the Davia Bargellini Museum.
