From modern and contemporary art to 20th-century design and artist’s books, auction houses are in full swing. From numismatic selections to sales exhibitions in Italy and abroad, here are the catalogs to watch from July 29 to August 5, 2026.

Although many auction houses are preparing for their usual summer break, the period spanning late July and early August offers some interesting opportunities for those seeking modern art, furniture, paintings, antique coins, or decorative art and high-end collectibles.

Auctions in Italy

As for the Italian auction house circuit, the schedule kicks off on July 29 with the virtual auction presented by Capitolium Art, titled MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART. The following day, Thursday, July 30, marks the conclusion of the auction organized by Fabiani Arte with its timed auction “Modern and Contemporary Art,” while Capitolium Art continues its schedule from July 30 to 31 with the virtual sale “DESIGN AND DECORATIVE ARTS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.” In addition to these upcoming events, the national calendar includes online auctions running throughout the summer break, such as the timed auction organized by Bertolami Fine Art titled Art and Artist Books from Mario Padovan’s Library, accessible through September 10, 2026.
