Turin, on Runway 500 the new site-specific installation by Paul Pfeiffer in collaboration with Juventus

Beginning October 31, 2025, Pinacoteca Agnelli's Runway 500 will welcome Vitruvian Figure (Juventus), the new site-specific installation by Paul Pfeiffer, the winning work of the Runway 500 Prize at Artissima 2024.

From Oct. 31, 2025, Pinacoteca Agnelli ’s Pista 500 welcomes Vitruvian Figure (Juventus), the new site-specific installation by Paul Pfeiffer (Honolulu, 1966, lives and works in New York). The work, winner of the Pista 500 Prize at Artissima 2024, where Pfeiffer was presented by Thomas Dane Gallery, enriches the Pinacoteca’s open-air itinerary, which has transformed the former FIAT test track on the roof of the Lingotto into a contemporary art space since 2022.

Realized through a collaboration with Juventus, the project is developed into an immersive sound installation and a large-format image displayed on the billboard at two different points on the Pista 500. With this work, Pfeiffer continues his decades-long investigation of collective behavior and spectacle while responding to the specific history of the city and Lingotto and the notion of production of a technological object of mass consumption and symbol of desire.

Since the 1990s, Pfeiffer has developed an interdisciplinary art practice that spans video, photography, sound, sculpture and installation, analyzing mass events such as sports matches, religious celebrations, concerts or television game shows. In his works he highlights the tension between the individual and the crowd, between the elevation of celebrity and the merging of the spectator into the collective body. Vitruvian Figure (Juventus) fits into this path with an intervention capable of stimulating the audience on an emotional and intellectual level.

The work becomes part of the outdoor sculpture program La Pista 500, which includes interventions by international artists such as Allora & Calzadilla, Rong Bao, Thomas Bayrle, Monica Bonvicini, VALIE EXPORT, Sylvie Fleury, Francesco Gennari, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Marco Giordano, Louise Lawler, Finnegan Shannon and SUPERFLEX. The project, curated by Pinacoteca Agnelli, proposes environmental, sound, light and film installations capable of interweaving artistic language with the history of Lingotto and Turin’s urban landscape.

Selected in 2024 by a jury composed of Meriem Berrada, Fatima Hellberg, Sarah Cosulich, and Pietro Rigolo, Pfeiffer was awarded the Pista 500 Prize, an award that arises each year from the collaboration between Pinacoteca Agnelli and Artissima.

On the occasion of Artissima and Torino Art Week 2025, the Pinacoteca is also inaugurating two new exhibition projects: I Am the Century, the first major Italian retrospective dedicated to Alice Neel (Marion Square, PA, 1900 - New York, 1984), and Faux Amis by Piotr Uklański (Warsaw, 1968), part of the Beyond the Collection program that also includes two interventions at the Museum of Human Anatomy “Luigi Rolando” and the Museum of Fruit “Francesco Garnier Valletti” in Turin.

The exhibitions will be on view until April 6, 2026.
