On March 6, 1475, Michelangelo Buonarroti was born, and in 2017 theAssociation of Friends of the Accademia Gallery of Florence was established. The Accademia Gallery of Florence celebrates these two important anniversaries on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with aspecial opening from 7 to 10 p.m. aimed at all members, old and new. The evening will be introduced by director Cecilie Hollberg, followed then an exclusive tour of the exhibition Pier Francesco Foschi (1502-1567) Florentine painter, with Elvira Altiero, Art Historian Officer, head of the art history department of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, and with Nelda Damiano, Pierre Daura Curator of European Art, Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia, who curated the exhibition together with Cecilie Hollberg and Simone Giordani, Professor of Art History, specialist on Pier Francesco Foschi.
Participation is restricted to members of the Association, but you can join online at theFriends of the Accademia Gallery of Florence(Friends of David) website or directly on March 6 at the Gallery entrance. Association members get free, priority admission to the Gallery, valid for one year, and many other benefits.
