Discovering Veneto's historic homes with events dedicated to foliage

From Oct. 9 to Nov. 6, the Dimore Amiche del Veneto, a group of excellence of Adsi - Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane (Italian Historic Houses Association), proposes The Month of Foliage, magical atmospheres of autumn. A month full of events in six splendid historic residences in Veneto: Villa Valmarana ai Nani, Castello di Thiene, Villa Sagramoso Sacchetti, Villa Angarano, Borgo Feriani, Villa da Schio. All dedicated to foliage, the leaves that change color in this autumn period and take on a thousand shades, from yellow to red to orange. Each mansion, for each date, will present a special event, which will feature the extraordinary participation of the hosts.

In addition, this year the #foliage2022 contest will be launched: the invitation is open to all photography enthusiasts. By sharing photos, reels and stories of the six villas with the hashtag #foliage2022, the fastest and most original to post images will enjoy a private and exclusive visit to one of the villas of their choice.

Villa Sagramoso Sacchetti in Verona, Sunday, Oct. 9, offers an educational walk through its elegant garden, created in the 1970s thanks to the contribution of leading landscape architects. Exclusively, the Sagramoso family will open the interior rooms of the villa. Reservations are required. Sunday, Oct. 16, the appointment is at Thiene Castle: botanical walk among the autumn colors in the castle park with expert landscape guide Pamela Nichele and hostess Francesca di Thiene. During the day it will be possible to visit the halls and stables of the Castle. Reservations are required from www.castellodithiene.com. On Oct. 23, Foliage Month arrives at Villa Angarano, in Bassano dl Grappa (Vicenza) to discover The Enchantment of the 19th-century Park of a Palladian Villa with stories of trees told by arboriculturist Stefano Farronato in the company of the hosts, the Bianchi Michiel family. A large lawn surrounded by cedars, redwoods, holm oaks and magnolias. But that’s not all... linden trees, cypresses and maritime pines blend with the Monte Grappa massif and the vineyards and olive trees. Tours will take turns at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. At the conclusion of the walks, a glass of prosecco will be served under the 19th-century Pagoda. Tours will last about an hour and a half.
