For Achille Lauro event and exhibition at Mudec in Milan, with tribute to Marina Abramović

Achille Lauro's flair arrives at Mudec in Milan with an event and an exhibition: in the September 22 event, the artist will meet the public with one of his living installations, and on the same day the exhibition of his "wunderkammer" will open.

Singer Achille Lauro returns to make his forays into art, as he did at the Sanremo festival a year ago, when he paid homage to Giotto: this time Lauro De Marinis (this is the real name of the Roman artist) will have as his stage the Mudec in Milan, where an event and an exhibition will be held. The appointment is for Wednesday, September 22, with the event, Achille Idol is present. Photo Book experience, a title intended to pay homage to The artist is present, the famous performance by Marina Abramović. The event will be marked by three main moments: the occasion is the release of the Achille Lauro photo book published by 24 ORE Cultura, available from September 23 in bookstores and online.

It starts from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with the first moment: Achille Lauro will meet the public and sign copies of the book, giving life to a living installation (access only by reservation on the Eventbrite platform to the first 70 fans and only after purchasing a copy of the book, while stocks last). The installation will consist of a singing performance, but not only that. It will be a performance that will merge music, art, fashion, theater, photography, and video, and where the element of surprise and the unexpected are considered a nodal component of the artistic project. The one on Wednesday, September 22, will therefore not be a classic firmacopie, because the delivery of the book signed by the artist will not take place in a canonical manner, but in pure “Lauro style.” “The book is the medium, Lauro the Message,” informs a note.

After that, at 7:30 p.m., there will be a talk (live streamed on ilsole24ore.com and on the Facebook page of Il Sole 24 Ore) during which Achille Lauro will engage with creative experts on the generating process of his performances over the past three years. The visual canvas of the story will be represented by the shots in the photo book: through a backward path all the behind-the-scenes and curiosities hidden behind his main artistic performances will be revealed. On stage will be some of the many creatives and professionals who took part in the construction of the artist’s inspirations.

Finally, at 8:30 p.m., space will be given to Achille Lauro’s Chamber of Wonders, with Gucci designer clothes and many other curiosities, for an exhibition that will remain open until October 10, 2021 at Mudec. The day will end with the unveiling of some of the poly-lobed showcases that perimeter Mudec’s l’Agorà: the Gucci designer clothes that marked the last two years of the artist’s career will appear, with a focus on his Sanremo experiences. The installation will be a 3-D explosion of the book, a visual experience to support its presentation and promotion, an all-around event using all artistic mediums. The 22-meter-longenfilade will consist of juxtaposing the aesthetic perfection of the performance, with its admirable dresses, with the real life backstage, through a still life of the scenarios showing the pre-stage stages of production and creativity. Once again, the theme of the unexpected becomes an integral part of the artist’s performances, captured in the moment of creation through signature photographic shots. Then again, instruments, rods, guitars, iconic clothes, as well as coffee cups smeared with lipstick, crumpled water bottles, diaries, notes, makeup, wigs and contraptions with fake blood. The exhibition will chronicle the creative process of the artist and his team, peeking into the moments when the art came to life. The world before the unexpected of the stage resumes its form and exposes itself. The art direction of the project is by Lauro De Marinis and Nicolò Cerioni in collaboration with 24 ORE Cultura. The museum window displays are curated by Leandro Emede, a photographer whose works are featured in the book.

The Achille Lauro book contains iconic images and never-before-seen shots from Achille Lauro’s personal archive, drawings of the artist, backstage photographs, testimonials and anecdotes: it is the first major anthology of images about the artist, dedicated not only to his fans and followers, but to all lovers of fashion, art and pop culture. Iconic, provocative, candid and surprising images to tell the story of his visual evolution over the years, tracing the history of one of the most controversial figures of the Italian music scene. Also available, by request only by contacting the publisher directly at info@24orecultura.com, is a special limited edition of 115 copies numbered and signed by the artist. Produced in close collaboration with the artist, the volume Achille Lauro wants to celebrate his figure by analyzing his style, videos and performances, up to the provocative “pictures” brought on stage in the last Sanremo Festival. The book is enriched by drawings specially made by Lauro himself, testimonies and anecdotes told by figures close to the artist. Through essays by fashion historian Matteo Guarnaccia, stylist Nick Cerioni, music manager Angelo Calculli and social media manager Francesca Limardo, readers can discover the reasons that made him absolutely unique in the contemporary art scene.
