From Modigliani to Pontormo, great art cinema is on stage in Milan.

From Modigliani to Pontormo: in Milan, at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, comes the third edition of Immaginarte, an art film festival.

The appointment with ImmaginArte 2017, the art film festival promoted by theSilvia Dell’Orso Cultural Association and Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, under the patronage of Milan City Hall 1, is renewed again this year. Every Sunday in November, important art films will be screened at the Palazzo del Cinema (Piazza XXV Aprile in Milan), always with a 10:30 a.m. showing time. The first film was screened yesterday: opening the festival was Derek Jerman’s 1986 Caravaggio.

The next events will feature three other great artists of the past, with three major art films, all of which will be introduced by a presentation by art historian Stefano Zuffi. Sunday, Nov. 12, the protagonist will be Amedeo Modigliani with The Colors of the Soul, a 2004 film by Mick Davis, starring Andy García and Elsa Zylberstein (running time 127 minutes). The third screening will be Nov. 19 with Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and John Houston’s 1952 film Moulin Rouge, starring José Ferrer and Colette Marchand (running time 120 minutes). The last screening will be dedicated to Pontormo with the 2002 film Un amore heretico, by Giovanni Fago with Joe Mantegna and Galatea Ranzi (duration 97 minutes).

All screenings will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, a historic Milanese cinema that has been offering quality films and film reviews in its eleven theaters for more than thirty-five years. The ImmaginArte review reaches its third edition this year. “Four films from all times,” reads the presentation, “chosen for their cinematic quality, for the artists who are the protagonists and for their popularizing capacity. With an enthralling introduction to what will be seen on the big screen by a well-known art historian who recounts the artistic and human vicissitudes of the artists and their works in a compelling yet rigorous manner. This is the characteristic feature of ImmaginArte, the review, in its third edition, promoted by Anteo spazioCinema and the Silvia Dell’Orso Cultural Association to offer the Milanese an opportunity for cultural growth that combines popularization and fiction on four consecutive Sundays in November.”

Tickets: €8 full price, €6 reduced for Anteo cardholders and Silvia Dell’Orso Cultural Association members, €24 subscription for the four films, which can also be used by two people. All information can be found on theSilvia Dell’Orso Association website.
