Rome stages first detective story dedicated to Raphael

Starting July 21, Giallo Raffaello, the first detective story dedicated to the great Urbino painter, will be staged at the Circolo della Pipa in Rome.

Casina del Curato o di Raffaello will stage the first giallo dedicated to the great Urbino painter, Giallo Raffaello. Beginning July 21, at 9 p.m., the show by Riccardo Bàrbera and Barbara Chiesa can be seen at the Circolo della Pipa, repeated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, for ten performances, from July 22 to Sept. 15, 2020. Other performances, including musical ones, will also alternate weekly with a film review dedicated to the most famous painters in the history of art.
In 2021, alongside Theater, Music and Cinema, an exhibition of reproductions of Raphael’s works is planned.

The entire project dedicated to Raphael, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death, is part of a broader three-year cultural proposal that intends to celebrate two more anniversaries: in 2021 that of Dante and in 2022 that of Canova.

For the next year, which is dedicated to Dante, a new performance centered on the Supreme Poet’s work will be proposed: Paradiso dell’Inferno (Paradise of Hell), which will be performed by young author, director and actor Jacopo Squizzato. In the same year, the show Giallo Raffaello will be revived along with the show inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. Similarly, in 2022 the show on Raphael will be revived, along with a new production dedicated to Antonio Canova.

In 2021 and 2022, side activities will be developed and designed in collaboration with the Department of Literary, Philosophical and Art History Studies at Tor Vergata University of Rome, involving students. The Association + Accessible Culture of Turin will collaborate to make the performances accessible to people with disabilities.

The three-year project will run each year in the months of July through September.
