March 21-26 sees the return of Salon du Dessin, the Parisian event that since 1991 has offered exhibitions of works of art created using a wide variety of techniques from watercolor to pen, via ink and pencil. This year’s event, now in its 27th edition, will see five international gallery owners display their treasures including London’s Omer Tiroche Gallery, which will present "Fishermen," a pencil drawing by Picasso, and Maurizio Nobile’s Gallery to representItaly.
Scheduled for the days of March 21 and 22 will be the symposium “drawing and the performance arts,” which will focus on drawings inherent to the performing arts and from museums and libraries such as the Louvre, the National Library of France and the Fondazine Cini of Venice, which will exhibit pieces from the Certani collection.
Big guests at the event will be two prestigious French institutions: the Maison Chaumet, a historic Parisian jewelry store, which will show preparatory studies for the preparation of its jewelry, and the Nantes Museum of Art, which will offer part of its collection that includes more than 13,000 pieces including drawings and prints, from Jacques-Louis David to Odilon Redon, from Jules-Elie Delaunay to Christine Meisner.
At the end of the exhibition there will also be a prize to be awarded by the Daniel Foundation and Florence Guerlain to one of three finalists to be selected by a committee of six experts: the three finalists are Mama Andersson, Leiko Ikemura and Juul Kraijer.
