The Train of the Papal Villas restarts, from the Vatican to Castel Gandolfo and Albano Laziale

The Pontifical Villas Train has started again: from April 2 to October 29, every Saturday, for a day of art, nature and food.

After a stop due to the health emergency, the so-called Pontifical Villas Train, which will take the public from the Vatican to Castel Gandolfo and Albano Laziale every Saturday until Oct. 29 (excluding April 16), restarted on Saturday, April 2. It will thus be possible to visit once again the summer residence of the popes, made available to the community in 2014 by Pope Francis, who strongly wanted the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo, the Apostolic Palace and its gardens to be open to the public.

It will start from the Vatican Museums and continue to the Vatican Gardens, and from there the train journey will begin from the old Vatican City Railway Station with destination Albano Laziale, with shuttle transfer to the Pontifical Villas. The public will experience an audio-guided tour of the Villa Barberini Gardens on a scenic eco-friendly vehicle. At the conclusion of the tour, and upon request, a lunch of typical products in the Pavilion of Rest is possible.

To return home, rendezvous for all at 4:30-4:45 p.m.: shuttle to Castel Gandolfo station and train arriving at about 6:30 p.m. at Rome’s St. Peter’s Railway Station.

In addition to the dates of every Saturday from April 2 to Oct. 29, there will also be dates on Monday, April 25, and Thursday, June 2.
