World premiere of immersive show Raffaello 2020 arrives in Milan

As a world premiere, Milan's Museo della Permanente will host Raffaello 2020, an immersive multimedia tale of Raphael's life and art.

From October 4, 2019 to February 2, 2020, an immersive multimedia show dedicated to Raffaello Sanzio will be hosted as a world premiere at the Museo della Permanente in Milan on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the famous Urbino artist.

Raffaello 2020, this is the title of the event, is produced by Crossmedia Group and curated by Vincenzo Farinella: it will be a story through images, sounds, music, evocations and suggestions at 360 degrees that intends to reconstruct the art and life of one of the most famous artists of the Renaissance. A tale that will be divided into five rooms: the introductory area, the Hologram Theater, the immersive room, the virtual reality room and the augmented reality and artist’s workshop room.

Theintroductory area will narrate Raphael’s life, artistic journey and historical context, as well as his main patrons; it will continue in the Hologram Theater where, thanks to a very innovative hologram technique created for Crossmedia Group by Naumachia Network, visitors will be able to meet the master directly accompanied by some of the people who influenced him the most. In the Immersive Room, the fulcrum of the itinerary, the floor, walls and ceiling of the room will envelop visitors in an unprecedented narrative of about 45 minutes that will illustrate Raphael’s history, works and places, thanks to immersive video mapping.

Raphael 2020 is intended to be a multimedia narrative designed for participatory enjoyment accessible to all.

In the Hall of Virtual Reality, one wall will be entirely dedicated to the theme of the iconography of the angel in Raphael’s painting, with a special focus on the two angels of the Sistine Madonna; moreover, thanks to VR visors, visitors will have the opportunity to penetrate Raphael’s painting. Finally, in the Hall of Augmented Reality, through the help of Ipad devices provided to visitors, it will be possible to frame the details of the preparatory cartoon of the School of Athens and the afterthoughts, additions and subtractions of that masterpiece will be visible. In the same room, it will also be possible to see Raphael’s Roman workshop reconstructed with an accurate scenographic installation.
