The Reggia di Venaria will collaborate with some of the most prestigious French institutions for two major upcoming exhibitions. In fact, the new two-year collaboration program of the Consortium of the Royal Residences of Savoy, which manages the Reggia di Venaria, was presented today at Palazzo Farnese in Rome, headquarters of the French Embassy. After a four-year period of intense cooperation with the Tate in London, the Consortium’s management led by Michele Briamonte and Chiara Teolato is now launching a new phase that focuses on France, in synergy with MondoMostre and Manifesto Expo.

Present at the presentation of the 2025-2027 program were, among others: Martin Briens, Ambassador of France to Italy; Michele Briamonte, President of the Consortium and Vice-President of the Association of European Royal Residences (ARRE); Chiara Teolato, Director General of the Consortium; Simone Todorow di San Giorgio, CEO of MondoMostre; and Alexandre Colliex, Director General of Manifesto Expo.

Two major exhibitions planned in the coming years:

Fernand Léger! Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle, Keith Haring (Sept. 27, 2025 - Feb. 1, 2026), which will investigate the work of Fernand Léger and his influence on the New Realism movement. The exhibition is organized together with major French institutions including the Grand Palais Rmn, the musées nationaux du XXème siècle des Alpes-Maritimes, the Musée national Fernand Léger in Biot, and the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain (MAMAC) in Nice. The exhibition aims to highlight the historical and artistic links between Léger’s work and the generation of artists immediately following him, including the exponents of Nouveau Réalisme, Pop Art and the emerging Street Art. Several themes will be addressed, such as the relationship with objects, the representation of leisure society, the role of public art and the importance of its collective accessibility. The selection of works by Fernand Léger brought together in the exhibition will testify to his position as a forerunner of both the conceptual and formal instances of American Pop Art, later deepened by artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana, May Wilson, and Keith Haring, and the French scene of the 1960s represented by the Nouveau Réalisme movement.

From Matisse to Bacon (October 2026-February 2027), with some 70 works from the Museum of Fine Arts, Lyon, spanning the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. It will range from the Cubism of Picasso and Braque to the chromatic experiments of Alexej von Jawlensky, from the atmospheres of Nicolas de Staël and Simon Hantaï to masterpieces by Matisse, Léger, Miró, Dubuffet and Bacon. A rare selection, bearing witness to the evolution of artistic languages that have traversed and transformed modern and contemporary art, made possible by the collaboration with one of the most relevant museum institutions in Europe.

With this project, the Consortium of the Royal Residences of Savoy, already a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Association of European Royal Residences (ARRE), confirms its desire to build a network of European cultural exchanges. The promotion and communication initiatives will involve Turin, Paris and Lyon, strengthening the role of the Reggia di Venaria.
