Massimo Podestà's cosmic models on display in Lucca

From August 18 to September 16, 2018, the cosmic models of Ligurian artist Massimo Podestà will be on display at Lu.C.C.A. Lounge & Underground.

At the Lu.C.C.A. Lounge & Underground, a solo exhibition by Ligurian artist Massimo Podestà entitled"Models 4.0: the possible cosmos" will be open to the public from August 18 to September 16, 2018.

The exhibition, curated by Maurizio Vanni, repeatedly shows the archetype of the"model" that becomes a sign matrix; the cosmic models depicted by the artist tread an ideal, almost improbable catwalk. The backgrounds are rich in visual, chromatic, symbolic and esoteric references and form a fundamental part of the painting.

“Models represented with postures typical of mannequins, but contextualized in galactic scenarios, in cosmic settings, in planetary environments: the female figure becomes an archetype, an existential matrix that moves in palimpsests that have to do with dream time. Her compositions, in fact, might allude to conscious illusions: their fascination, linked to the mystery of an image that while remaining within reach is always fleeting, lies in the fact that they are presented with a character of purity, essentiality and synthesis that clashes with dynamic scenarios that break patterns and conventions. Sometimes imagination turns out to be more effective than rational thinking. That is why fantastic scenarios can project each of us into a possible cosmos: Podestà is aware that without dreams human beings could not live,” says the curator.

Ameeting with the artist at 5 p.m. is scheduled forSaturday, September 1, 2018.
