From May 10 to June 8, 2025, the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan is hosting Si giocava a fare Woodstock, an exhibition that recounts through eighty black-and-white shots by Fabio Maria Minotti the three editions of the Re Nudo Festival that took place in Lambro Park between 1974 and 1976.
In those June months, the park was transformed into an Italian-style Woodstock with young people from all over Italy. With sleeping bags and bands in their hair: they wanted to listen to new music, to share experiences. They were students, workers, artists, politically and socially engaged young people, music lovers, freaks, tourists and the curious, united by a desire for change. Artists of all genres took turns on stage: from songwriting to experimental music, from rock to prog, from jazz to improvised jam sessions. Each edition attracted more than 100,000 people, making the event one of the most important underground festivals in Europe for the artistic quality proposed, whether musical, theatrical or literary.
Fabio Maria Minotti’s photographs, more than half previously unpublished, portray the protagonists of the Italian music and art scene and the audience, young people of that generation who dreamed of changing the world.
The exhibition, produced in collaboration with the ALBERTO GRIFI Social Promotion Association.
