Milan, Nadia Nespoli's crocheted fiber art canvases on display at Spazio San Fedele

From Jan. 14 to Feb. 15, 2022, Milan's Spazio San Fedele is hosting 'Time Offers,' a fiber art solo exhibition by artist Nadia Nespoli featuring monochrome canvases made with a crocheted weave.

Nadia Nespoli ’s exhibition Offers of Time, running from Jan. 14 to Feb. 15, 2022, at Spazio Aperto San Fedele in Milan, presents a series of monochrome canvases made with a hand crocheted weave. These fiber art works are the material outcome of an art project that involved the manual labor of women and men inmates inside the Bollate prison, who accepted the artist’s invitation to collaborate, offering their time.

Over the course of 2019, Nespoli entrusted inmates of different ages, education levels and life experience with skeins of cotton thread, asking each to make a canvas with the high stitch, never unraveling it during execution. The artist’s proposal stimulated a true collective performance, a pretext for the creation of a dialogue. Each “time offering” unfolds through an ancient technique, where the cotton thread symbolizes the thread of a bond, of the inner dialogue that changes and progresses with the viewer’s gaze.

The exhibition is a collaboration with Sesta Opera San Fedele, Laboratorio Artemisia, Fondazione Maimeri, Montali Studios, Soqquadri.
