Milan, Stefano Di Stasio's dream painting on display at Fondazione Stelline

Running from March 3 to April 3, 2022 at the Fondazione Stelline in Milan is 'Presenze altrove,' a solo exhibition by Stefano Di Stasio curated by Vittioria Coen. The exhibition inaugurates the Foundation's exhibition season.

With Presenze altrove, a solo exhibition by Stefano Di Stasio (Naples, 1948) curated by Vittioria Coen, the Fondazione Stelline in Milan opens its 2022 exhibition season. The exhibition, which participates in the schedule of Milano Art Week (March 28-April 3, 2022), the week that the City of Milan, in collaboration with miart, dedicates to modern and contemporary art, is scheduled from March 3 to April 3, 2022. On display in this solo exhibition are some 20 medium- and large-scale works, including also unpublished canvases and papers, made especially for this occasion by one of the protagonists of the return to image painting.

For Stefano Di Stasio, painting narrates a quest free from the constraints created by momentary fashions. His oils on canvas represent stories, dreams, recent or distant memories, made with meticulous attention to individual details, like the notes of a pentagram. The works on paper, moreover, live as vibrations of the sign, the trace, the melody in which the artist immerses himself. In the construction of the painting, geometric glimpses appear that open to new perspectives and that, ideally, are connected to the first conceptual experiences of the late 1970s. In Di Stasio’s work, human characters, animals, but also flowers such as the rose and objects (the piano) alternate, all with a strong symbolic value, in which free interpretation, by the viewer, is an important component of the artist’s poetics.

The exhibition is accompanied by a publication, with an introductory text by Vittoria Coen.

During the exhibition, which will remain open from Tuesday to Sunday (10 a.m.-8 p.m.), there will also be special events, such as guided tours In the exhibition with the curator scheduled for Saturday, March 5, March 19 and April 2, at 5 p.m., and the Meeting with the artist (Friday, April 1, 6 p.m.).
