From October 8, 2025 to January 19, 2026, the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection in Paris presentsMinimal, a major exhibition devoted toMinimalist art. For the first time, more than 100 seminal works testify to the diversity of this movement since the 1960s, when an entire generation of artists gave birth to a radically new approach to art. Alongside masterpieces from the Pinault Collection, the exhibition includes loans from the Dia Art Foundation and other private and public collections, testifying to the historical relevance and global resonance of the themes addressed.

Minimal investigates the international dimension of a movement that profoundly redefined the status of the work of art. Marked by anessential aesthetic, aneconomy of means and a new relationship between work and viewer, the artists involved-from Asia, Europe, North and South America-have challenged traditional exhibition methods, promoting direct and physical interaction with the work and integrating space and the viewer into the artistic process itself. While developing in different contexts, these experiences share the common intent of expanding the relationship between art and audience, opening new horizons of perception and participation.

In Japan, the Mono-ha movement explored the relationship between “things” in their natural, unaltered state, emphasizing the interdependence between objects, space and observer. In Brazil, neo-concretist artists developed a more sensual and participatory form of abstraction, in contrast to the rigidity of concrete art, promoting direct contact with the viewer. In Europe, movements such as Zero in Germany and Arte Povera in Italy expanded the boundaries of sculpture through minimalist forms and an ongoing dialogue with the surrounding space. In the United States, on the other hand, minimalist artists abandoned traditional compositional techniques in favor of formal simplicity and materiality of the work. Rooted in local experiences but arising almost simultaneously, these practices helped redefine the narrative of Minimalism, which until then had been considered predominantly American.
