Personae, Elliott Erwitt's major retrospective at Reggia di Venaria

From Sept. 27, 2018 to Feb. 24, 2019, the Reggia di Venaria will host Elliott Erwitt's major retrospective Personae.

The Sale dei Paggi at the Reggia di Venaria will host from September 27, 2018 to February 24, 2019 the major retrospective exhibition entitled Personae dedicated to the shots of Elliott Erwitt (Paris, 1928), one of the most celebrated photographers of the 20th century.

More than 170 black-and-white and colorimages, some previously unpublished, others that have become icons internationally, to tell the public through an exhibition itinerary about the humanity, irony and comedy of the famous photographer.

Among the subjects represented are Marylin Monroe, Che Guevara, Sophia Loren, John Kennedy, and Arnold Schwarzenegger; other shots depict ordinary people within their everyday lives.

The exhibition’s curator, Biba Giacchetti, said Personae is the largest retrospective ever done of Elliott Erwitt, and certainly the most peculiar: in fact, it combines a large collection of color images with his black-and-white icons, and closes with an account of the stunning project Erwitt signed under the pseudonym Andrèe S. Solidor.

The retrospective is organized by Civita Mostre with the Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude, in collaboration with Sudest57.
