"SOStenibilità, Nature rebels": the exhibition in Rome.

Through Jan. 2, 2018, the exhibition 'SOStenibilità, Nature Rebels' continues in Rome in the Council Chamber of City Hall I.

Until Jan. 2, 2018, you can visit the exhibition “SOStenibilità, Nature Rebels,” which is part of the fifth edition of Riscarti, the international creative recycling festival, this year dedicated to Amatrice and the people who suffered the tremendous earthquake that struck central Italy on Aug. 24, 2016.

Set up in the Council Chamber of Rome’s City Hall I, the exhibition aims to sound an alarm that warns us that our lifestyle today can determine the fate of the planet tomorrow, that many of the environmental risks can be minimized through more responsible economic choices, and that certain phenomena become natural disasters because they are caused by man’s wicked policies. For this reason, the word “SUSTAINABILITY” has been written with capital letters.

On display are works created by Alessandro Ciafardini, Cristiano D’Innocenti, Tommaso Garavini, Cristiano Muti, Francesca Pizzo, Filippo Riniolo and Germano Serafini.
The art, design and installation works are made by reusing materials from the earthquake-destroyed city.
Marlene Scalise, creator of the event, uses the words of Albert Einstein to explain it, “We cannot expect things to change if we keep doing the same things (...). It is in the crisis that inventiveness, breakthroughs, great strategies arise.” Scalise adds, "Riscarti uses art as a cross-cutting value - as well as an effective and alternative vehicle of communication - to reflect on the great issues of our contemporaneity. And recycling with art is a creative solution to the environmental crisis affecting planet Earth, as it teaches us how to recover and reassemble the pieces, removing them from the waste circle and reinserting them into a virtuous circuit. The two combined, are capable of generating a culture on green issues, and thus outlining environmentally friendly scenarios and lifestyles."

On the occasion of the exhibition, there will be a fundraiser and the opportunity to donate the works to the places affected by the earthquake, with a project supported by the Italian Red Cross. The exhibition is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free.
