From September 23, 2022, to March 19, 2023, the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna will host the exhibition The Painters of Pompeii. Curated by Mario Grimaldi and produced by MondoMostre, the exhibition is made possible thanks to the cultural and scientific collaboration between the Municipality of Bologna | Museo Civ ico Archeologico and the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. In fact, it provides for the loan of more than 100 works from the Roman period belonging to the collection of the Neapolitan museum headquarters.

The exhibition will focus on the figures of the pictores, the authors of the decorative apparatuses in the domus of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Vesuvian area. A journey through 1st century AD society that will highlight the role of the pictores, the relationship with patrons, the techniques used and Greek and local reference models.

The presentation of the exhibition to be held on Tuesday, June 21, will be attended by the mayor of Bologna Matteo Lepore, Emilia Romagna Region Culture and Landscape Councillor Mauro Felicori, director of the Civic Archaeological Museum | Istituzione Bologna Musei Paola Giovetti, director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples Paolo Giulierini, curator Mario Grimaldi and director of Istituzione Bologna Musei Maurizio Ferretti.
