The ultimate places, Andrea Chiesi's solo exhibition in Ravenna

From February 23 to March 24, 2019, Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste in Ravenna is hosting I luoghi ultimi, a solo exhibition by Andrea Chiesi (Modena, 1966), an artist who has been drawing inspiration from contemporary landscapes for nearly 30 years: he draws and paints abandoned places, factories, suburbs, corridors, archives, libraries, and housing interiors. Of the real world, a background echo remains, crossing an invisible threshold that leads to an inner world.

With his new solo exhibition, the painter pays homage to the city of Ravenna, where he has been teaching at the local Academy of Fine Arts for years. His “last places” are places painted at the end of aera, suspended in time: the public at Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste will have the opportunity to admire a selection of about forty oil paintings on linen canvas, made from the early 2000s to the present, but also ink works, pastel drawings, notebooks and the covers of records drawn in the 1990s, and some works made by his students. Along the exhibition route there is also a documentary video made by Andrea Nocetti and Giulia Caverni dedicated to the life, work and study of the Emilian painter.

The exhibition has free admission. It can be visited Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information can be found on the Ravenna City Council website.
