Art explained on Zoom by Stefano Zuffi and more: the online proposal of the Diocesan Museum of Milan

A lecture series with Stefano Zuffi and a series of interesting online meetings: this is the digital proposal of the Diocesan Museum of Milan for this fall.

The Diocesan Museum “Carlo Maria Martini” in Milan is among the most active museums on the “online” front and for this autumn of closures imposed by the dpcm presents a rich program of online meetings and lectures, with interesting proposals, several of which are free. A proposal that is confirmed, as director Nadia Righi explained in an interview last April, to be preparatory for visiting the museum when it can finally reopen its doors. All online events require advance reservations. All meetings will be held on the Zoom platform.

The first event is for Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. with the meeting titled 2019 A Masterpiece for Milan. Artemisia Gentileschi. The Adoration of the Magi from the Cathedral of Pozzuoli (duration 45 minutes, free and reserved for the first 80 registrants: reservations by 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, by sending an email to diocesanoonline@gmail.com): Nadia Righi will talk about the painting of the 17th-century painter, preserved at the Cathedral of Pozzuoli, which in 2019 was “guest” of the Diocesan Museum for the traditional Christmas exhibition. On Nov. 18 at 5:30 p.m., however, there will be the penultimate “installment” of the art history course The Long Trail of Beauty, which began in October, with art historian and popularizer Stefano Zuffi, who will talk about Francisco Goya (cost €10, registration from Nov. 12 to 16). Stefano Zuffi’s series ends on Nov. 25 with a meeting devoted to Antonio Canova (cost 10 euros, purchase from Nov. 19 to 23): for both of the last two meetings, reservations at diocesanoonline@gmail.com.

The appointments continue with the series Venite, adoriamo! curated by Ambarabart: a cycle to bring the public closer to the iconographic and religious theme of the adoration of the Child through four encounters in which the greatest artists of all time will enter the homes of the public (all at 6 p.m.). It starts Nov. 23 with Giotto and Duccio (speaker Chiara Brighi), continues on Dec. 2 with Giorgione and Titian (speaker Maria Elisa Le Donne), and then again on Dec. 9 with Caravaggio and Correggio (speaker Arianna Piazza), and concludes on Dec. 16 with Rembrandt and Rubens (speaker Arianna Piazza). All meetings in the Venite, adoriamo! series are free of charge and reserved for a maximum of 80 registrants (reservations required at parrocchieoratori@museodiocesano.it). This initiative is carried out as part of the project IncontrArti - Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini, an encounter between art and community for social inclusion, implemented in partnership with Fondazione Luigi Clerici and funded by Fondazione di Comunità Milano.

As anticipated, all meetings involve the use of the Zoom platform, which can be downloaded for free from the appropriate website. Zoom works on both PC, Apple and Android and Iphone smartphones, so the meetings can be followed on any type of device. Upon completion of registration, participants will receive a link via e-mail to access the meeting. For any other information you can connect to the website of the Diocesan Museum of Milan.
