From June 3 to July 22, 2025, the Accademia Gallery in Florence is extending its opening hours to the public for the summer. Every Tuesday, the museum will remain accessible until 10 p.m., with last admission at 9:15 p.m. The initiative, already positively received in past editions, allows the evening visit of the collections to offer an evocative experience for both residents and tourists from Italy and abroad.
During the evening openings, it is possible to admire not only Michelangelo’s famous sculptures but also the many paintings on display in the permanent collection, among the most internationally relevant to Florentine painting from the 13th to the 16th centuries. Of particular interest is the Hall of the Colossus, which houses Giambologna’s earthen sketch depicting The Rape of the Sabine Women, adjacent to the fifteenth-century room, where masterpieces such as the Cassone Adimari by Scheggia, Masaccio’s brother, are kept.
Also among the most-visited spaces are the Gipsoteca, which brings together plaster portraits by Lorenzo Bartolini and Lorenzo Pampaloni, and the Museum of Musical Instruments, which includes some 400 specimens, including three 16th-century spinets on display for the first time last December.
The Accademia Gallery is open regularly Tuesday through Sunday, with hours 8:15 a.m. to 6:50 p.m. (last admission at 6:20 p.m.). Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by phone through the official dealer Firenze Musei (+39 055 294883) or through the official website of the Accademia Gallery in Florence. The cost of the reservation is 4 euros.
