In Bolzano, Museion reopens with two new exhibitions

On May 29, 2020, the Museion in Bolzano reopens to its visitors by offering two new exhibitions.

On Friday, May 29, 2020, Bolzano ’s Museion reopens its doors to its visitors and welcomes them with two new exhibitions: these are the solo show of artist Karin Sander, titled Skulptur/Sculpture/Sculpture, and P.O.V. Point of view, a project of the Butch-ennial Contemporary Art Group collective that will be set up in the Atelier House next to Museion.

The exhibitions will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

“After more than two months of closure due to the emergency, Museion reopens offering no less than two new exhibitions. This is an important moment, which I am personally very excited about. I am very happy to be able to welcome visitors again and proud of the Museion team, which, amidst a thousand difficulties and limitations, has managed to prepare the two new exhibitions. With the online offerings of #TeleMuseion we have remained close to the public, but I think the last few months have shown everyone that nothing can replace the physical experience of encountering art. It is an experience that visitors should be able to enjoy in the most peaceful and relaxed way possible: in these weeks, therefore, we have been active in taking all the necessary measures to ensure that visitors can visit the museum in maximum safety,” said Letizia Ragaglia, director of Museion.

The exhibition project Skulptur/Sculpture/ Sculpture by Karin Sander (Bensberg, 1957) will be accessible from May 30 to September 20, 2020. The artist’s projects arise from existing situations; with humor Sander addresses everyday cultural scenarios and their institutional and historical context, intervening in the structures of institutions, changing them, emphasizing existing facts and circumstances, and inviting the public to participate. What is seemingly familiar is rethought and becomes the starting point for a process of exploration.

From May 30 to Sept. 13, 2020, the Atelier House presents P.O.V. Point of view by the Butch-ennial Contemporary Art Group: an independent project, born from the passion of a group of South Tyrolean and cosmopolitan artists (Ruediger Witcher, Hannes Vonmetz Schiano, Marco Pietracupa and architect Stefano Peluso).

Also on display until June 15, 2020 is a sculpture by Ingrid Hora (Bolzano, 1976) entitled TheGreat Leap Forward: the work refers to the Chinese economic and social reform undertaken by Mao Zedong between 1958 and 1961. It consists of a row of walkers used at the same time by several people moving forward in a line. An installation that refers to the generational gap between people born after the 1980s and those who lived through the Chinese reforms. By redesigning the device, Hora questions the concepts of progress, dependence, collectivity and loneliness.

Museion and Casa Atelier will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m.
