From Sept. 20 to Oct. 25, 2025, the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi (Turin) is offering a series of special guided tours that provide access to spaces generally closed to the public. The initiative, called Passepartout, offers two separate routes that illustrate the history of the Savoy residence and Filippo Juvarra ’s architectural design behind its construction. Passepartout allows visitors to explore little-known servants’ quarters, hidden passages and interior corridors, all the way to the top of the Juvarra dome. Visitors can walk along the concave and convex balconies overlooking the central hall and take a closer look at the inverted boat roof, supported by an intricate wooden framework. From the highest point of the dome, after walking down two narrow spiral staircases with a total of 100 steps, a 360-degree view can be admired, with the deer symbol of the Palazzina at the center of the gaze.
The first route, entitled Behind the Secret Doors, leads into the servants’ quarters and along the passages that allowed people to move discreetly between rooms and private apartments. Among the elements that can be visited is the panel of automatic doorbells, a tool documenting the inner workings of the residence. The experience offers a perspective on the operating methods of the Savoy court and the functioning of the Palazzina’s internal services. In contrast, the second route, Under the Stag, offers a vertical perspective of the building. Visitors start from the grand double-height central hall and, after climbing 50 steps, reach the concave-convex balcony. Continuing on a narrow spiral staircase for another 50 steps, they reach the top of the Juvarrian dome, with the possibility of observing the pavilion roof and recognizing the geometries and longitudinal axis of the architectural design, which visually connects the residence to Turin and constitutes a remarkable example of architectural scenography of the period.
For safety reasons and given the special nature of the spaces, visits are permitted only for adults and children over 12 years old. Groups may not exceed 10 people, and each participant must wear the protective helmet provided. Access is not recommended for those with heart disease, claustrophobia, vertigo or other conditions that may limit mobility or make it difficult to walk up the stairs. Comfortable clothing and closed shoes, such as sneakers or light hiking, are required; bulky bags and backpacks are not allowed.
Guided tours last about an hour and must be booked in advance by contacting stupinigi@info.ordinemauriziano.it or by calling 011 6200601, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Costs vary depending on the route chosen: for Behind the Secret Doors the full ticket is 22 euros (12 euros admission + 10 euros guided tour) and reduced 18 euros. For Under the Deer, the full ticket is 25 euros (15 euros entrance + 10 euros guided tour) and reduced 22 euros. Museum Subscription Card holders pay 10 euros, with free admission to the Palazzina.
For the Behind the Secret Doors route, the visit schedule includes Saturday appointments at 2:30 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. For the Under the Deer route, visits are also held on Saturdays, at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., on the same days.
