Silvia Dell'Orso Award 2015: the ceremony

The award ceremony for the 2015 Silvia Dell'Orso Prize, won by Windows on Art, was held in Milan. Here is a short story.

The day before yesterday in Milan, in the Archconfraternity Hall of the Diocesan Museum, the award ceremony for the2015 edition of the Silvia Dell’Orso Prize was held, which went to us at Finestre sull’Arte, Ilaria Baratta and Federico Giannini. The prize, organized by theSilvia Dell’Orso Association, which remembers the important figure of the Milanese art historian and essayist who died prematurely in 2009, is now in its sixth edition this year, and was awarded to us by a jury composed of several cultural figures (Annalisa Cicerchia, Pietro Clemente, Marisa Dalai Emiliani, Francesco Erbani, Mario Turci and Paolo Cavaglione). The Silvia Dell’Orso Prize represents an important recognition for us as it is the most important prize in Italy for those involved in the popularization of art history: so we are really happy that this year it went to us!

During the award ceremony, a debate was also held in which, in addition to us, two important scholars such as Giovanni Iovane and Stefano Zuffi participated: during the debate, moderated by the president of the Association, Paolo Cavaglione, we took stock of the popularization of art in Italy. Summing up in broad terms what emerged from the speakers’ considerations, Giovanni Iovane brought his example of working oncontemporary art, Stefano Zuffi reiterated the considerable importance of the method by which popularization should be conducted, Ilaria Baratta illustrated what should be the most suitable language for popularizing art history, and Federico Giannini closed by talking about the social function of art. There was great appreciation among the large audience in the hall, and we were happy to have met some of our fans live: we hope there will be other occasions!

We thank the Association again for giving us this important award and, of course, all those who follow us: it is thanks to our audience that the project can continue! We leave you with some pictures of the award ceremony, taken by Roberta Crivelli, Luca Zuccala and Fabrizio Vaghi. And last... our celebratory selfie!
