Soon on sale are the Windows on Art Audiobooks: 10 Artists to Discover the 1500s in Florence. Each issue priced at 4.50

'The Sixteenth Century in Florence,' a collection of audiobooks to discover the great artists of the 16th century in Florence, is coming soon. 11 volumes for 10 undisputed protagonists.

The Sixteenth Century in Florence, the first audiobook series by Finestre sull’Arte, is about to be released. Through eleven volumes, the developments and art-historical events of one of the most intense periods in art history, the subject of successful exhibitions, books and films, will be recounted. The great artists of the sixteenth century in Florence can therefore also be listened to, through audiobooks lasting about an hour each, evocative and fascinating, and all characterized by clarity, rigor and quality.

Ten authors make up the series: Michelangelo (in two volumes), Fra’ Bartolomeo, Andrea del Sarto, Pontormo, Rosso Fiorentino, Baccio Bandinelli, Benvenuto Cellini, Bartolomeo Ammannati, Bronzino and Giorgio Vasari. The artistic and biographical journey of all the artists will be recounted, the most important and most representative works will be presented, and the historical, social and cultural context of reference will be carefully reconstructed and analyzed in each installment. The texts were written by Federico Giannini and Ilaria Baratta, founders of the newspaper Finestre sull’Arte and active in the field of art-historical popularization. The audiobooks will present the artists with a documentary tone: The Sixteenth Century in Florence will thus be a product suitable to be listened to in any context (at home, for study, in the car, during sports).

From the exploits of Michelangelo (the David, the rivalry with Leonardo, the move to Rome and the masterpieces for the popes) to the dawn of Mannerism (with the revolutionary works of Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino) ,from the mature Renaissance (the monumental one of Fra’ Bartolomeo and the “mistake-free” one of Andrea del Sarto) to the virtuosity and eccentricities of Mannerist sculpture of Baccio Bandinelli, Benvenuto Cellini and Bartolomeo Ammannati to the frosty portraits of Bronzino and the manner of Giorgio Vasari (ample space will be reserved for his Lives, a constant point of reference in all the audiobooks, and the subject of a special in-depth study in the audiobook on the great artist from Arezzo): the greatest artists, those who made radical innovations, who played a leading role in the history of art, who influenced generations of other artists, are the great protagonists of the Il Cinquecento aFirenze series.

The audiobooks of The Sixteenth Century in Florence will soon be available for purchase on the online store of Windows on Art: you will be able to choose whether to buy the single audiobook or theentire series at a discount on the total. The audiobooks will be on sale individually at the price of 4.50 or it will be possible to purchase all eleven volumes in one go at the price of 29.90 euros.
