Silver Lion for Best Director goes instead to Luca Guadagnino for the film Bones and All (USA, Italy): a drama, horror, and sentimental genre, the film tells the story of first love between Maren (Taylor Russell), a girl learning to survive on the margins of society, and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), a loner with a fighting spirit; it is the on-the-road journey of two young people who, in a constant search for identity and beauty, try to find their place in a world full of danger and that cannot tolerate their nature. The film is the film adaptation of Camille DeAngelis ’ novel To the Bone published in 2015.

The film directed by Luca Guadagnino also goes home with the Marcello Mastroianni Award, given to Taylor Russell as a young emerging actress.
