First event in history for cultural work arrives: details will be unveiled tomorrow

The first event in history for cultural work is coming. Details will be revealed at a press conference on June 26, 2018.

A major event for culture and labor: it will be the first in the history of Italy, will be held on October 6, 2018, and details will be unveiled tomorrow, June 26, 2018, at a press conference by the collective Do you recognize me? I am a cultural heritage professional. The event will be organized by workers and professionals in the Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts sector: it will be the first demonstration that will unite professionals and would-be professionals, structured and precarious, more or less young, with more or less rights. Tomorrow, at a press conference in Rome (at 5:30 p.m., at the Circolo Arci Sparwasser), the organizers will explain the motivations behind the October 6 mobilization, which will aim to explain to the whole country why investing in Culture is possible, useful and rightful, and will recount the dramatic labor reality of the sector.

The press conference aims to present the reasons, ways, timing and objectives of an innovative and composite Manifestation, organized by many unions, collectives, committees, associations and individual citizens, including the collective Do you recognize me? I am a cultural heritage professional, theItalian National Archival Association, the group Facciamolaconta, the National Committee of the Lyric Symphony Foundations, the unions Uilpa Bact and Funzione Pubblica Fp - Cgil Nazionale, the Emergenza Cultura movement, the USB workers of the Civic Museums of Venice and the Reggia di Venaria in Turin, and more.

All the promoters, in addition to rejecting the attack on the work of the cultural sector, and its economic and social consequences, which are still little known to most, aim to denounce the current deep institutional crisis. According to the organizers, in fact, the state “not only disregards its constitutional principles by encouraging a privatist drift of culture, but it does so despite the fact that the cultural and creative production sector generates a mo vimento of 250 billion a year, 17 percent of GDP.” The press conference will be attended by Claudio Meloni (FP - CGIL), Federico Trastulli (UILPA BACT) and many associations and committees, among others.
