Starting January 15, four buildings in the archaeological area of Herculaneum will be permanently open. Find out which ones they will be.

As of Jan. 15, thanks to the presence of six new public assistance and surveillance staff, four buildings at the Herculaneum archaeological site will be permanently open.

These are the House of the Two Atria, the House of the Beautiful Courtyard, the House of the Bronze Hermitage and the House of the Deer.

Standing out among them is the House of the Beautiful Courtyard, as a courtyard paved with a beautiful mosaic leads to the upper floor: it is a different building from typical houses in the area.

The House of the Deer owes its name to two statues in the garden depicting two deer being attacked by a pack of dogs.
The House of the Bronze Herme is so named because of a cast of the herm, or pillar portrait, in bronze of the master of the dwelling, while the House of the Two Atria because of the presence of two atria: one in front of the entrance, the other further inland with an impluvium.
