Guided tours of Milan's Bell Tower of Sighs: the complex is open again

The Basilica of San Celso and its Campanile dei Sospiri (Bell Tower of Sighs) in Milan will be open again starting March 24 every weekend.

Starting March 24, it will once again be possible to visit the ancient Basilica of San Celso in Milan, which has been fully restored, and climb its bell tower, more than 1,000 years old, from which there is a spectacular view of the city.

This is the oldest bell tower in Milan, called the Campanile dei Sospiri, which is still in operation. At the end of 120 steps you will reach the belfry, where a striking and exciting panorama will open up before your eyes.

The Basilica of San Celso was built around the year 1000 in the Romanesque style on the site where Saints Nazzaro and Celso were martyred.

The entire complex is also known as the"Church of the Brides," as it was a tradition for Milanese brides to bring their bouquets here, praying for the happiness of their marriage and sighing to heaven a wish for their future.

Visits to the Basilica and the Bell Tower of Sighs will be conducted every weekend from 3 to 8 p.m. and each visit will last 45 minutes with expert staff.

Necessary to book your visit through The Bell Tower of Sighs website.

Tickets: 10 euros. Free for children up to 10 years old.
