Important openings in Pompeii. For the first time, the public will be able to see the recently discovered Leda with a swan

Two important reopenings will take place in the Pompeii Archaeological Park next week: on Monday, November 25, the Via del Vesuvio and the House of the Golden Cupids will once again be accessible. As far as the Vesuvius Street is concerned, the reopening of the road, following the safety work on the excavation fronts that affect a 3-kilometer-long area around the ancient city, also allows the public to admire for the first time the domus of Leda and the Swan discovered exactly a year ago: excavations in Regio V had first led to the discovery of the frescoed scene, and then of the entirealcove that housed the work. Still another first for the public, also on Vesuvius Street, is the opening of the recently restored Central Baths complex, which until now has not been accessible.

The House of the Gilded Cupids, on the other hand, reopens after some maintenance work that had made it temporarily inaccessible to the public. All the new findings are also recounted in a book, published by Rizzoli, written by the park’s director, Massimo Osanna.
