Judge orders exhumation of Dali's body

A woman in Girona claims to be Salvador Dalí's daughter, and a Madrid judge orders the exhumation of the artist's body.

A woman, Pilar Abel Martínez, allegedly claimed to be Salvador Dalí’s daughter , the result of a clandestine relationship between the artist and the woman’s mother.

Pilar Abel Martínez was born in 1956 near Girona and her mother, at the time of conception, was a maid for a Figueres family vacationing in Cadaques.

Since 2007, the woman has wanted to be recognized as Dalí’s daughter and said she has already taken two DNA tests with biological remains attributed to the artist, but with no results.

To resolve the situation, a Madrid judge ordered the exhumation of the artist’s body since “there are no biological remains or personal objects on which to practice the Dna test” and therefore proceed with the paternity examination.
