Maria Emanuela Bruni is the new president of MAXXI - National Museum of XXI Century Arts, thus succeeding Alessandro Giuli, newly appointed Minister of Culture. Maria Emanuela Bruni is an art historian and journalist with a long experience in the service of institutions. She was the first woman, in 2008, to lead the Ceremonial of Palazzo Chigi.
The Board of Directors of the MAXXI Foundation, which met today, took note of the bylaws stipulating that the functions of the President be assumed by the most senior director, namely Professor Raffaella Docimo, who declared her unavailability to perform these functions considering them at the moment incompatible with the performance of her institutional commitments as a full-time full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Pursuant to the bylaws, the functions are therefore assumed by Dr. Maria Emanuela Bruni. The positions of Secretary General and Artistic Director of the Foundation remain unchanged until the new President is appointed.
The Board of Directors wished to express its thanks to Professor Docimo, who will continue to serve as a member of the Board.
