Salvator Mundi exhibition attributed to Leonardo da Vinci postponed at Louvre in Abu Dhabi

The Salvator Mundi attributed to Leonardo da Vinci was supposed to be on display from September 18, 2018 at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, but the exhibition has been postponed.

The controversial work attributed to Leonardo da Vinci was due to be exhibited on September 18, 2018 at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi: it is Salvator Mundi, the oil-on-board painting depicting the half-length figure of Christ facing the viewer.

However, the exhibition of the canvas dating from around 1500 has been postponed until a later date: this was announced via Twitter by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, which bought the painting at auction from Christie’s in November 2017 for a record $450 million.
Soon “more details will be released,” the department makes known.
