Stay at home! Now artists and museums are telling you too. #iorestoacasa is the hashtag to circulate

At a time when Covid-19 coronavirus infection is expanding, everyone is needed to stop it, and the call is for responsible individual behavior. That is why the #iorestoacasa campaign has started on social media to urge everyone, even those who do NOT live in the red and orange zones (and therefore the recommendation is valid for the whole country) to stay at home and move around as little as possible, avoiding social contacts, to stem the epidemic and protect the weakest. The fact that many people are home from school or work does not mean that this is a vacation or it is the Easter vacation in advance-it is a necessary measure to safeguard everyone’s health. The invitation is one: stay home! For outings, trips, aperitifs, dinners, discos and whatever else we will have plenty of time when the contagion stops.

The campaign is now also promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and is supported by many artists and entertainment personalities: Jovanotti, Sorrentino, Ligabue, Fiorello, Baglioni, Renato Zero, Amadeus, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, the Negramaro, Beppe Fiorello, Francesca Archibugi, Cristiana Capotondi, Tiziano Ferro, Enrico Lucci, Antonella Clerici, the Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, and Barbara Foria are just some of those who are adhering to #iorestoacasa and, from their social profiles, are inviting you to stay in your homes. And all of us at Windows on Art are also joining in.

Many museums are also posting their masterpieces on the network, inviting you to discover the secrets of their collections from home. So far they have joined: the Royal Museums of Turin, Pompeii , the Colosseum, the Uffizi, the Royal Palace in Naples, the Egyptian Museum, Palazzo Barberini, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, the Archaeological Museum in Cagliari, the Archaeological Park of the Phlegraean Fields, the Museum of Oriental Art in Venice, Capodimonte, the Omero Museum in Ancona, the National Gallery of Umbria, the Museum of San Martino, the Accademia Gallery in Florence, and the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice.

“I thank the many protagonists of music, cinema, and entertainment who are promoting the #iorestoacasa campaign on social media in these hours,” said Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini. “A very important message for young people,” he added.
