The Trees of the Trunks: the sad Christmas of entertainment workers

In Florence, Rome, Milan and Udine, the first Entertainment Workers' Trunk Trees appeared.

At the entrance to the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, the special Christmas tree of the entertainment workers, theBauli Tree, has been placed. The latter is intended to keep the attention of public opinion and institutions alive to the entertainment workers who have been out of work since the beginning of the pandemic. The trunk is a symbol of the work behind the scenes, the work that by its nature remains invisible to most people, but which is crucial to the organization and realization of live shows and events.

The decision to place the Trunks Tree right in front of the Mandela Forum is motivated by the fact that the facility constitutes the main multi-purpose venue for shows in Tuscany, where nothing has been staged for nine months.

The original tree was created with dozens of "flightcases," the trunks that accompany those who work in the industry every day and in which are stored equipment, sets, costumes and everything else needed to put on a show, and is in line with the big event that took place last October in Milan’s Piazza Duomo. Those who wish can leave a message under the tree with a thought or memory: they will all be posted on Mandela Forum’s social channels. The flightcases are not adorned with classic Christmas decorations, but with phrases written by the show workers themselves expressing words of good luck and hope.

The one in Florence, however, is not an isolated case throughout Italy: other Bauli Trees have appeared in Milan, Rome, and Udine. In Udine they decorate for the holidays the central Piazza Venerio, in Rome the central San Silvestro, and in Milan Piazzale Cadorna.
