VaccineDay, MiBACT makes heritage primroses bloom on social media

On the occasion of VaccineDay, MiBACT launches social campaign through primroses that are part of Italian cultural heritage preserved in state museums.

On the occasion of #VaccineDay, MiBACT is launching a digital campaign in support of the antiCovid19 vaccination: the social profiles of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism will be filled with primroses of different species, with colorful corollas, carved on marble, printed on parchment, painted on porcelain, catalogued in ancient herbaria, described in botanical codes hidden among small decorations or protagonists of wall paintings and decorative frescoes.

Starting with the close-up of the bust and hands of Andrea del Verrocchio’s Lady with a Small Bunch, preserved at the Bargello National Museum: from the sculpture Stefano Boeri drew inspiration for the logo of the vaccination campaign pavilions that will be placed in 1,500 Italian squares.

Against the winter of the pandemic, the cultural heritage of state museums and cultural places blossoms with primroses: among them, those inlaid in Francesco di Giorgio Martini’s “fireplace frieze” at the Ducal Palace in Gubbio, those embroidered on the border of a traditional costume from Calabria at the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, those painted on porcelain from the Discry Manufacture of the Raggi Service at the National Gallery of Palazzo Spinola, in Genoa; and again, those printed on a 1919 postcard from the Cesare Poma Fund (State Archives in Biella), those depicted in the Cinquecentine of the University Library in Cagliari, in the volumes on “Flora italiana ossia Raccolta delle piante più belle che si coltivano nei giardini d’Italia” directed and illustrated by Professor Gaetano Savi (Palatina Library in Parma) or in the wreath of the winged Nymph by Gennaro De Crescenzo in the Neoclassical Saletta of the Royal Palace in Naples.
