Venice, to enter will pay 3 euros in 2019, up to 10 euros from 2020. Ticket to be paid with the means of transportation

Venice, junta presents regulations for access ticket. It will pay 3 euros in 2019, up to 10 euros in 2020.

The Venice City Council has given the green light to the regulation for the access fee for the historic center and the smaller islands. The resolution will now be sent to the relevant committees and then go to the city council for discussion and vote. This means that the regulation is not yet final and there could be changes (although it seems likely that the fee will pass as it is designed). For 2019, the fee will be the same every day of the year: the ticket will cost 3 euros. However, the price will change in 2020, when there will be a vignette system with increasing values that will reach a maximum of 10 euros. The cost will vary on the basis of expected flows: on green sticker days, those on which a limited influx of people is expected, people will pay 3 euros, on red stick er days (critical influx of people) the cost will be 8 euros, and on black sticker days (exceptionally critical influx of people) people will have to pay 10 euros to enter Venice.

The City Council has provided a system of exclusions and exemptions. Those excluded by law, that is, residents in the Municipality of Venice, workers including commuters, students including commuters of any order and grade, family members of those who pay the Imu in the Municipality of Venice, will not have to pay the ticket. Exemptions for those staying in accommodations within the municipal area, residents of the metropolitan city of Venice and the Veneto region, holders of the Citypass “Venezia Unica” card, children under 6 years of age, the disabled and accompanying persons, those undergoing rehabilitative therapies in facilities in the historic center, those assisting or accompanying patients, those participating in sports competitions recognized by CONI or its federations or sports promotion bodies, and also for administrators and public authorities who travel to the center for institutional reasons, for volunteers who participate in events organized by the City, Metropolitan City or Region or who are engaged in emergency activities, for law enforcement and armed forces personnel, for family members of those who live in the city for rent, for spouses, domestic partners, relatives or relatives-in-law up to the third degree of residents, detainees (if for visiting purposes), deceased (if to attend funeral), and finally for those summoned to the center’s offices for reasons of justice. All excluded and exempt persons will have to prove their status in order not to pay the co-pay.

There will be reductions for those staying in hotels in the Veneto region (rates will be defined later). The access fee will be paid through the means of transportation chosen to get to the city (shipping companies including cruise lines, trains, couriers, rental with driver, cabs including water cabs, granturismo launches, planes). Carriers will be obliged to collect the ticket and pay it by the 15th of the following month into the city’s coffers.
