In Rome, the Baths of Caracalla become a "set" for the Divine Comedy

Rome, until Sept. 2 Dante's Comedy takes center stage at the Baths of Caracalla thanks to a series of critical readings of Dante's poem.

The Special Superintendence of Rome brings to life an initiative that blends history and literature, welcoming Dante’s Comedy to the Baths of Caracalla until Sept. 2. The voice of Franco Ricordi, interpreter of a critical reading of Dante’s work, will be the guiding thread through selected cantos fromInferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso in the setting of the Terme di Caracalla.

As Ricordi explains, “Dante is for us what Virgil was for him: a true lifeline, especially in this situation of great bewilderment in which we find ourselves, especially in the sphere of Culture, thought and live arts.”

Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from July 20 to Sept. 2 at 9 p.m. The Baths of Caracalla, illuminated for the occasion, will thus be the setting of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise from time to time.

All events are free admission, subject to availability, with reservations required at www.coopculture.it (reservation fee €2). In compliance with anti-Covid safety measures, masks must be worn.
