On Saturday, May 4, a long day of open hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. is scheduled at the Villa of Maxentius complex on the Appian Way, with guided tours, performances and dance classes.

It ends on Saturday, May 4, Itineraries in Search of Light, the three-day event organized by Roma Capitale, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and theNational Academy of Dance in the setting of the Museum of the Villa of Maxentius, the imposing site at the fourth mile of the Via Appia Antica.

After the first two days of dance classes open to the public, conducted by the Academy’s students, a long open day is scheduled for the last day, with continuous opening hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (last entry at 9:30 p.m.). It begins at 10 a.m. with a dance class open to the public followed by a guided tour to discover the monumental complex, which will be followed, from 12 to 1 p.m. with intervals of 10 minutes each, by a sequence of three performances of choreographic studies designed especially for the Mausoleum of Romulus. Dance becomes a means of expression against the violence of war, in search of a dialogue of reconciliation that ignites “the light along the path,” as the title of the event is meant to suggest.

On the occasion of the extraordinary opening in the evening hours, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour in the monumental complex, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m., by the archaeological officials of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, while from 8:30 to 9 p.m. performances of choreographic studies against war, composed in site specific for the Mausoleum of Romulus, are scheduled in the area of the monumental complex from the entrance to the Mausoleum of Romulus. Featuring Dolores Pagnotta and Beatrice Tomasello from the second three-year technical-compositional program. Musical direction, original music and arrangements by Giorgina Tramontozzi. Participating dancers Claudia Fiorio and Pan Zanghlongni, students of the first Two-Year School of Contemporary Dance. Contributing to the composition of the studies were second Three-Year Technical-Compositional School students Giada Magnaghi, Francesca Bernalda, Diletta Capodicasa, Federica De Cusatis, Sara Della Santa, Gaia Fiori, Martina Grecuccio, Rebecca Manca, Lara Marchioro, Dolores Pagnotta, Federica Papagni, Alice Perna, Giorgia Putignano and Beatrice Tomasello.

The event, curated by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and the Accademia Nazionale di Danza, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura, is the first special event to inaugurate the evening openings of the Villa of Maxentius.
Free activities and admission for all with no reservation required and no limit of participants, with the exception of the 10:30 a.m. visit with LIS translation, for which reservations are required by calling 060608 (max 25 participants). It is also possible to participate in only one of the activities offered.
