Caravaggesque paintings from the Roberto Longhi Foundation on display in Palermo


From February 17 to June 10, 2018, an exhibition dedicated to the Caravaggesque painters with works from the Roberto Longhi Foundation will be hosted at Villa Zito in Palermo.

The exhibition"From Ribera to Luca Giordano. Caravaggesque and Other Painters from the Roberto Longhi Foundation and the Fondazione Sicilia," which will run until June 10, 2018 at Villa Zito in Palermo.

Curated by Maria Cristina Bandera, the exhibition features works by Caravaggesque painters kept at the Roberto Longhi Foundation for the Study of Art History, including Valentin de Boulogne’s Negation of Peter, with which the exhibition opens, five canvases depicting Apostles made by Jusepe de Ribera, Battistello Caracciolo’s Deposition of Christ, Giovanni Lanfranco’s David with the Head of Goliath, and Angelo Caroselli’s Vanity.

There will also be paintings by Matthias Stomer, Mattia Preti, and Francesco Solimena.

The exhibition concludes with two large canvases by Luca Giordano depicting Judith in one and Neptune with Amphitrite in the other, Christ and the Samaritan Woman by Mattia Preti, and Solomon and the Queen of Sheba by Francesco Solimena.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog from Marsilio Editori.

Hours: Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Mondays. Special opening on April 2.

Tickets: Full 10 euros, reduced 8 euros for groups and conventions. Special reduced 4 euros for under 18 euros. Free for under 6s, accompanying persons, disabled, tour guides, accredited journalists.
The ticket includes a visit to the permanent collections of Villa Zito.
