Emergency celebrates 25 years with a weekend of culture: lectures, meetings, theater, an exhibition

On Friday, June 28, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30, EMERGENCY is organizing the National Meeting Of War and Peace in Milan. This year EMERGENCY celebrates 25 years of activity, during which time hospitals open to anyone have been built and run and 10 million people, victims of war, landmines and poverty, have been treated. Many free events will enliven Milan, the city where EMERGENCY was born: a series of lectures, public meetings, a theatrical performance, an interactive trail, an exhibition and a concert. Plus a mini festival completely dedicated to children.

“For 25 years,” says Gino Strada, surgeon and founder of the humanitarian association founded in 1994, “EMERGENCY has been putting a very simple idea into practice: it treats anyone in need. Nothing heroic, it is our duty, our resistance: to put human rights into practice, every day, in all our projects. This is our contribution, which has led us to treat about 10 million people. And it may be a drop in the ocean, but it is a beautiful drop.”
